Did you see this feature in Visual Studio? This is "Add an existing item" dialog.
This helps not duplicate files on the disk. It's the same file used in multiple projects changes made at one place reflects everywhere.
Quite useful if you are using a CSS file, JS file etc in multiple projects and need your changes to be consistent.
As always it could be a double edged sword, causing unexpected changes reflected everywhere. Do you agree?
